BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - The Boomtown Casino in Biloxi has never had a hotel connected to the property. But on Monday, that changed.

Penn National Gaming, the owners of Boomtown and Hollywood casinos in Bay St. Louis, spent $550,000 to add a RV park across the street from the Biloxi location.

"We want to add amenities so we bring guests in from the region, and nationally, and experience what Penn has to offer," said Jeff Zaffron, vice president of marketing.

Fifty RV and camper pads with electrical, water, sewage and wifi are featured on six and a half acres. Additionally, two more acres are available for future development. The goal: appeal to travelers in the niche market.

"We can tap into our database from our sister properties. We can get guests who have an affinity for RVs. In the south we have a RV culture in Florida, Georgia and Texas. We're now able to reach a specific group," added Zaffron.

Boomtown sees the addition to its portfolio of amenities as part of a larger picture, and wants to contribute to the synergy of growth around Biloxi.

"We want to help build on what is going on in Biloxi. With the Shuckers, the revitalization that is going on, we want to be part of it", noted Zaffron.
